Reggie Smith for Texas House

MEET REGGIE

State Representative for District 62

The Smiths'

TEXAS ROOTS

Reggie Smith is no stranger to District 62 or to the conservative battlefield of fighting for less government, lower taxes, Texas jobs, and secure borders. He descends from a 6th generation Grayson County pioneer family. Reggie and his wife, Stephany, are the proud parents of three children: Reggie Jr., Anna Katherine, and Rhett.

LEGISLATIVE LEADERSHIP

Smith was elected to serve as the State Representative for District 62 in November of 2018. Over the subsequent 2019, 2021, and 2023 Legislative Sessions, Smith tirelessly fought for his district in the Texas House of Representatives. Notably, during the most recent 88th Legislative Session, the Speaker of the House appointed Representative Smith to serve as Chairman of the House Committee on Elections. Additionally, Smith was selected to serve on the House Committee on Public Health. Throughout his time in the legislature, Smith emerged as a staunch champion of conservative values, including protecting the unborn, lowering taxes, safeguarding second amendment rights, promoting individual liberty, and supporting our schools and teachers.

EDUCATION, CAREER, AND POLITICAL INVOLVEMENT

Smith is the founder and owner of Reginald B. Smith, Jr. PLLC, a general practice law firm which he established in 2003. Prior to his election, he served as a two-term chairman of Grayson County Republican Party and the Northern Regional Director of the Texas Republican County Chairman’s Association.

In 1991, Smith received his B.S. in Political Science from Austin College in Sherman, Texas and was a member of the Pi Gamma Mu Honor Society. In 1994 he earned his law degree from South Texas College of Law in Houston and was admitted to the State Bar of Texas. Smith is licensed to practice law in Texas and admitted to practice in federal court including the United States District Court of the Eastern District of Texas and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

Smith’s involvement in conservative political causes spans more than 2 decades. From his involvement at Austin County and State Party Conventions, he played an important role in the transformation of Grayson County from a Democrat to Republican county. Smith is also a member of the Nation Rifle Association.

HUSBAND, DAD, COMMUNITY LEADER

Smith has been active in various local charitable and service organizations. He has previously served on the board of directors of Big Brother Big Sisters, Friends of Scouting with Texoma Valley Boy Scouts and The Rehab Center among others. He has coached little league teams and devoted much of his off time with his wife Stephany raising their three children.

Smith and his family reside in Van Alstyne, Texas and are active members of the First Baptist Church of Van Alstyne.

I am proud to endorse Reggie Smith for State Representative, HD 62.
